Portraiture by Susan Spellman Artist statement: Painting and drawing portraits has also something I have done for many years after years of study of the human face for illustrations and in my figurative fine art work. I work from life by doing “portrait sketches”, that are usually done within an hour and are meant to portray the personality of the sitter in a casual way.
